Siegel worked in field organizing before joining county government in 2017 serving as Lehigh County's Public Information Officer for the previous county executive Phillips Armstrong. He then became Chief of Staff to Lehigh County Controller Mark Pinsley where he helped oversee an expansion of its performance audits and drafted policy reports around environmental sustainability, criminal justice reform and healthcare savings.

In 2019, Siegel was elected to Allentown City Council at 25, making him the youngest elected member at the time. In 2022, Siegel was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives at 28 to represent the people of the 22nd Legislative District. Siegel served on the House Appropriations committees along with Housing and Community Development, Labor & Industry, Transportation, Communications and Technology and State Government.

Siegel believes in the power of local government to shape the most important parts of people's lives, quality of life and quality of place. He wants Lehigh County to be a model for restoring trust and faith in government and democracy through decisive action and bold leadership.

As Lehigh County Executive his priorities are affordable housing and reducing homelessness, protecting access to vital healthcare like mental health and addiction treatment, maintaining public ownership of Cedarbrook, investing in public safety, expanding regionalization of critical services filling the gaps of leadership at the state and federal level to create security and prosperity for working families. Siegel's goal is to make the Lehigh Valley a place where every life is a life well lived.
